February 23rd our excursion takes us to the Barrier Reef where we’ll look at the reefs in a glass bottom boat. The weather is very cloudy and chance of rain. The lack of sunshine will not bring the beautiful colors of the live coral, it’s a 1 1/2 hr fast cruising on somewhat wavy sea. We arrive at a very big pontoon, we board the glass bottom boat, then we had a substantial lunch buffet. After made our way to a semi submerged boat to see more of the reefs. Altogether it was a very nice day wish the sun would have been part of it, I guess we can not have everything all the time. Sorry images would not upload. Will try later.
Tuesday February 12 and we are in Brisbane the capital city of Queensland Australia. It was a long bus drive from the port to downtown, driving through the industrial area, but when we got in town what a beautiful, inviting atmosphere the architecture of the old and new is mesmerizing. Again Mother Nature was good to us they had plenty of rain previous to our arrival but sunshine was there to greet us.

What a Glorious time we had in Sydney, that city is vibrant and people are enjoying life, Saturday evening Carolyn and had dinner on the pier next to the Sydney Opera House, had a good dinner “the focus was not the food” just enjoying the atmosphere of Aussie living. On our excursion was “Cultural Sail of Sydney” great afternoon cruising this amazing harbor and learning about the old way of life of the natives Australian.
Today is Monday 02/12/24 and being one day ahead it’s Super Bowl day, I am skipping this morning excursion and stay on board to watch the football match, Viking as usual did a great job all kinds of snacks, sliders and drinks. Went into town that afternoon and what a beautiful city it is. Next morning our excursion took us to Healesville Sanctuary a small town outside of Melbourne.
Second day of four days at sea. Starting my walk at sunrise, a little chilly and the ship was swaying quite a bit, make for a good walk keeping your balance. It’s also a nice time to look back on some pictures of past excursions.
